IELTS Test Day Tips


The IELTS is a big test, and many people are very nervous when they write it. That's OK if you are nervous. It's normal. But, to succeed you need to be ready on test day.

Day of the Test



1.  Immerse yourself in English the week of the test. Only        speak in English, and only listen or read in English too.

2.  Go to bed early and get a good night’s sleep.

3.  Eat a healthy breakfast to have energy for the whole day.

4.  Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

5.  Leave your house early and arrive early.  

6.  Know the directions to the test centre.

7.  Take all necessary documents and materials.

8.  Don’t take your cell phone. You can't take it into the 
     test.

9.  Don’t talk to people in the waiting room who are nervous.

10.  Relax! You do not need a perfect score. You studied hard, you will be fine.




On the Test



1. Skim the section to know what to expect.

2. On the break, stretch and relax. Forget about the previous sections.

3. Be aware of your time.

4. Read the instructions.

5. Answer all questions.
